Bobby Gets His Wings and the Holihans Are Headed to Norfolk,VA

Well, the surface warfare pin has been removed and replaced with wings of gold. Only a small percentage of Americans throughout history have had the privilege of saying "I served as a Navy pilot" and now Bobby joins them. We are all so very proud of him. This achievement only adds to all that makes him so unique and amazing. OK, I am biased :-)

Robert's nephew Charlie was kind enough to offer his professional services and served as a photogropher for the entire event as a gift to us. There are over 300 beautiful photos and they can be viewed at www.charliepappas.com/holihan

After the dinner party those of us brave enough went to Flounder's on Pensacola Beach for the squadron's celebration in true Navy form. Drinks a-flowin'. All of our best friends joined us and even Bob and Jean hung for a while.

Bobby's winging was an entire weekend of events, all of which turned out to be a wonderful time filled with many memories thanks to everyone who joined us. Much of our family traveled from great distances at great expense in order to share this special time with Bobby and words can't describe how much that meant to us. We ended the weekend with Bobby having his wings blessed by our priest, Father McLaughlin. After the mass and the blessing we were blessed with a beautiful acopella rendition of the Naval Aviators Hymn by our dear friend Dorothy. I must admit it was somewhat of a tear jerker.
