Below is where the journey started, Marseille Harbor, France.
Both during the day and a nice sunset picture. I only had one day here in Marseille, but I had been here previously.
Next stop was Valletta, Malta. Valletta is the capital city of Malta. Malta is an archipelago (of 7 islands) in the central Mediterranean Sea, south of the Sicily across the Malta Channel; east of Tunisia and north of Libya in Africa. This island was a hold out for British Forces during WWII. I was excited about this port call, because I had not been here before. It was hot, but enjoyable, I even got to go snorkeling in this port. The below picture was the view as we entered the port, prior to mooring. We actually tied up around the corner on the other side of this. The picture that follows is the opposite view near the columned monument looking back at the harbor entrance. I can't remeber the name of this monument right now. You can see that Valleta has quite a protected entrance to the harbor. It was quite a sight to see.
Here is a picture of the USS Mount Whitney, the mighty ship that has taken me on this journey around the Med and the Black Sea.
This is the Galeta Tower, which gives a 360 degree view of Istanbul, Turkey.
This is Istanbul, or Constantinople in the background.
This is the Blue Mosque (in the distance) looking from inside the Hagia Sophia.
Here are some interior views of the Hagia Sophia.
