RJ Rides a Bicycle

I finally decided that it was time for RJ to get a bicycle. So, I took him to the store and let him pick one out. As you can see, he couldn't pass up the Spiderman bike. I called Bobby and was on the phone with him when we picked it out. It said on the box "ages 4-8" so, we figured it would be good for him since he ia almost 4. Well, it was a little too big for him but, we still gave it a shot. I took him and the bike, which was still in the box, to our friends the Slater's house. They have a little boy who RJ loves to play with. I unpacked the box and proceeded to read the directions on how to put the bike together. Both boys anxiously waited for the bike to be put together. They really wanted to help. Finally, it was ready to go and RJ got all geared up in his helmet and pads and we set off on the big adventure of learning to ride it. It lasted about 30 seconds before he wasn't diggin' it anymore. It was very hard for him to pedal on such a big bike. I felt bad for him but, we all tried to encourage him to keep trying. He tried for a little while in the cul-de-sac and then we decided that a break would be good. No matter what I said or did, he just wasn't wanting to try and ride it. I packed the bike in the truck and headed home. Rylee was at a friends so, we picked her up and as soon as she got in the car, RJ started to tell her about his new bike. She said, "When we get home you can show it to me and then we can go ride it." I thought, "OH, no...she has no idea how stubborn he had been about trying to ride the bike and he is never going to go for this." Well, of course, as soon as we got home, Rylee took the bike out of the car and suited RJ up in all of his gear and he just got on it and rode down the street with her. I should have just waited for her to begin with :-)
