Flying a Kite at Mount Trashmore

Last weekend we took a break from painting and took the kids to a park in Virginia Beach called Mount Trashmore. Here is a little blurb about it :

"Mount Trashmore Park is 165 acres. The mountain is 60 ft. high and over 800 feet long, and was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil. Three flag poles serve as vents for methane gas; lightning struck one once and it caught fire."

So, it is true our first big outing was to a dump but it was perfect for flying the kite that Bobby bought for the kids. He picked it up for $4 and it is a great looking kite. Rylee was going to roll down the hill but when she got to the top she was a little apprehensive :-) Rylee and I did hike the stairs on one side to get to this huge city logo on the mountain. It was quite a work out. I ran down and Rylee took her sweet time for fear of rolling down the hill :-) There was a great playground there as well for RJ to play on.
